Cooking with Leftovers

Cooking with Leftovers

We are living in unpredictable times where flexibility is a haze and our resilience is tested daily. One thing is certain: life has become more expensive. Energy prices are soaring, many products are more expensive, and food is no exception. So, how can we handle this wisely? Very simply: be more mindful with food AND waste less!

"Zero waste" is a hot topic. Throw away less and thus contribute to a better environment. So-called "leftover cooking" has even more advantages. If you buy food more thoughtfully and use it more consciously, not only will you have less waste, but you'll also save on your weekly expenses. In no time at all, you can conjure up a tasty meal from leftovers. It may take some getting used to, but the possibilities are truly endless. Take a deep dive into your cupboards, fridge, and freezer, and you'll be surprised at how many dishes you can still whip up. Below you'll find some inspiration!

Did you eat spaghetti yesterday and have some sauce leftover? Make a croque monsieur, pour the sauce over it and you’ll have a delicious croque bolognaise.

Or do you have leftover dry pasta? Use it the next day in a frittata with some leftover vegetables and an egg, and you’ll have another delicious and balanced meal.

Got various leftover vegetables at the end of the week? Throw them all in the Soup Maker, add some stock and herbs. Nothing beats a tasty soup to wrap up the week.

Is pasta on the menu tonight? Use vermicelli and put the rest in the soup the next day. That way you have a healthy and satisfying meal.

Do you have leftover vegetables and potatoes from dinner? Put them in the soup blender, add water and a bouillon cube, and you’ve got a wonderfully filling soup for the next day.

Has that jar of tomato sauce been sitting in your cupboard for weeks? Spread it over half a baguette, sprinkle with grated cheese and bruschetta herbs, and bake for about 10 minutes at 180°C in the oven or SnackTastic. Who doesn’t love a pizza baguette?

Did you have chicken curry yesterday and have some leftovers? Cut the chicken into small pieces, mix them into the curry sauce, maybe add some garlic, onion, parsley and apple pieces, and you’ve got a tasty chicken curry salad for on toast.

Do you still have potatoes in your pantry? Try something different for lunch instead of bread and make a potato tortilla.

Do you have some hard-working hens in the yard and don’t know what to do with all those eggs? Try making a frittata.

Don’t throw away fruit with a few brown spots! Make a smoothie, use them in baked goods, or dry them for delicious healthy treats for you or the kids. How about applesauce waffles?

Have leftover cold cuts? Put them with some cheese on a slice of bread, add some olive oil, pepper and salt, put them on the grill and you have a perfect appetizer or snack.

A Slow Cooker is the perfect zero-waste assistant and cooks everything perfectly and tastefully. For example, you can use meat that may have been in the freezer a little too long to make a creamy stew.

Stale bread left? Make croutons in the SnackTastic, breadcrumbs in the blender, or make French toast!
