How to deep-fry with solid fat!

The real chip fanatics among us already know it! The very best, tastiest and crispiest chips are fried in solid fat. The solid fat (also available in a vegetable version) is now an ideal solution. After all, frying oil has become very scarce and very expensive. It's time to get yourself a FRITEL fryer with fat melting mode, which only FRITEL can offer, thanks to a European patent. After all, deep-frying with solid fat must be done in the right way!

Cooking Tips & Tricks

Only deep fryers with a 'fat melt' setting are suitable for deep-frying with solid fat (vegetable or animal). The FRITEL Turbo SF® and FRITEL FryTastic® deep fryers are the only ones to have such a unique fat melting function for safe deep frying with solid fat.

For the perfect result and for safe and correct use, please follow the next steps!

FIRST USE

Step 1: Spread the solid fat over and between the heating element.

NEVER place the integral block of solid fat in the basket or directly on the heating element. Remove the basket from the fryer and cut the solid fat into pieces, then cover the heating element completely with it. The amount of fat you need depends on the capacity of your fryer: 900g of fat equals 1 litre of frying oil, so for a 3 litre fryer you need 2.7kg of solid fat, for a 4 litre fryer you need 3.6kg of solid fat.

Follow the instructions above to prevent a blue heating element or defective deep fryer and for your own safety. If the solid fat is placed on the heating element in one block, small flames may develop during heating as the fat drips onto the heating element.

Step 2: Melt the solid fat on the unique fat melting position .

Turn the thermostat to the fat melting position. As soon as the fat is melted and transparent, and the heating element is therefore fully visible, you can turn the thermostat to the desired frying temperature (150°C, 180°C or 190°C).

Step 3: Deep-fry now

Bon appetit!

SECOND USE

Step 1: Pierce a few holes with a wooden spoon

The fat has cooled down completely and solidified. First make a few holes in the fat with the back of a wooden spoon. NEVER use a fork, knife or other metal object. This could damage the heating element, the thermostat or the safety thermostat.

Step 2: Melt the solid fat on the unique fat melting mode.

As with the first use, first set the deep fryer to the fat melting mode. As soon as the fat has melted, turn the deep fryer to the desired frying temperature.

Step 3: Your deep fryer is ready to fry again

Enjoy a delicious portion of chips again!

REPLACING SOLID FAT

Is your deep-frying fat dirty and in need of replacement? Then follow these steps:

Melt the fat again at the fat melting position.

As soon as it has completely melted, turn off the deep fryer and allow the fat to cool down briefly (not too long, otherwise it will congeal again).

Pour the fat into a large used empty plastic bottle or box (from e.g. soda or ice cream) and take it to the recycling park at a later time or keep it to feed our birds during the winter.

Clean the heating element and the basket with a brush in hot soapy water. The bowl can be cleaned in the dishwasher. The control panel may NOT come into contact with water.

After cleaning, put everything back together again, make sure the control panel is properly mounted on the sliding brackets and repeat the steps of "first use".

With these tips and simple steps, you can fry the most delicious chips for your family or friends. Chances are you will never want to change to frying oil again.
