FRITEL
30 minutes

Ingredients

250 g self-rising flour
100 g split mung beans
4 g dried yeast
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 small Surinamese pepper
1 handful of spinach
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1–2 tablespoons water (in which the beans were soaked)
frying oil

Also needed

FRITEL Hi-Efficiency blender BL 4270
FRITEL fryer

Preparation

Soak the beans 1 day in advance
Remove the seeds from the Surinamese pepper
Grind the beans with the garlic and the Surinamese pepper in our Hi-Efficiency Blender BL 4270. If grinding is a bit difficult, you can add some of the water in which the beans were soaked.
Put the flour with the yeast, cumin, and salt in a bowl and knead it into a mass.
Add the bean mixture to the flour mixture. Then add the spinach and some water. Mix into a ball of dough.
The dough should not be too stiff, but also not too wet. Otherwise, add a little water.
Let the dough rise for 2-3 hours
Preheat your fryer to 150°C.
Take a ball of dough in a moist palm. Flatten the dough and make a hole in the middle.
Slide the bara into the oil, fry until golden brown, and then drain on kitchen paper.

Tips

Serve warm with a chutney
